The Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns, recognized as the premier reference on chart pattern analysis, extends its lead with this Second Edition. This definitive text includes new bull and bear market statistics, performance sorted by volume shape and trend, more than a dozen additional chart patterns, and a new section covering ten event patterns. • My book,Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns Second Edition, shown on the left, is the most comprehensive reference on chart and event patterns published.
  • This is an extremely valuable reference book for any serious traders, new or seasoned.
  • I especially like the statistics on the performance & failure.
  • “Encyclopedia” went to my top 10 technical analysis list in the first ten minutes I had it.
  • It will be the most dog-eared book since Edwards and Magee.

Bulkowski’S Visual Index Of Chart Patterns

Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns . . . is a valuable contribution to the existing literature on charting and should be considered an indispensable reference by any serious chart trader.” I have actually only read the first and second edition of Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns. But from my experience with his books, I would be interested in reading Trading Classic Chart Patterns as well. If you end up reading it, I would love to hear your review on it. THOMAS N. BULKOWSKI is a successful investor with twenty-five years of experience trading stocks.

Technical Analysis Strategies For Beginners

One could get mislead by random noise by reading too much into the near limitless variations. In connecting dots, like much else in trading, simple broad strokes are better. Yet at a thousand large sized, NOT large font, pages, the book will get far more credit for thorough than simple.

Great book to add a few more patterns and knowledge. “Not since Edwards and Magee has someone put together so comprehensive an assemblage of market behavior expressed graphically. No chartist should be without this book.”

This book is an excellent starting point for novice traders that covers every major topic in technical analysis. In addition to covering chart patterns and technical indicators, the book takes a look at how to choose entry and exit points, developing trading systems, and developing a plan for successful trading. These are all key elements to becoming a successful trader and there aren’t many books that combine all of this advice into a single book. This is a masterpiece by Bulkowski, exactly what I need.

Novice traders may want to check out this book before diving into more complex topics. The price was kind of hard to take but sometimes its better to bite the bullet and just get what you need than to fiddle around going cheap and never really getting a comprehensive resolution to all your questions.

Obviously I haven’t read the 1000 pages yet but it has been really interesting to read about many of the chart patterns you hear about and have a depth of understanding on them. It like a dictionary, everyone needs one at some point. Anyone who is interested in charting would probably do well to have this book sitting on the shelf. These classics focus on the fundamentals of technical analysis and reading charts as insight into market psychology rather than simply listing off an array of patterns. I have been using statistical techniques for many years and thought most “patterns” are mostly in the eye of the beholder. But some patterns are so obvious that recently I have looked for definitions and explanations.

Of deeper value than cataloguing however is a focus on what does the observed action likely MEAN? What might it be saying about the supply/demand balance in the context of the time? What are the main possibilities going on underneath to create such a pattern? One that stands more on the shoulders of the likes of Wyckoff and is reflected today by such TA authors as Adam Grimes. While interpretation and decision is STILL inevitably more subjective art more than solved science , to me THAT approach to TA has more promise and practical value than this book’s.
